(AGENPARL) - Roma, 7 Gennaio 2026(AGENPARL) – Wed 07 January 2026 Planning & Design Commission Discussion HighlightsOn November 13, City staff shared an update on the River District Specific Plan with the Planning & Design Commission. Commissioners expressed excitement about the area’s potential and discussed key topics like river access, connections to nearby neighborhoods, housing, historic preservation, and how future growth can be thoughtfully guided.
Public commenters also shared valuable perspectives, particularly around concerns of the River District’s role in accommodating homelessness and social service uses, noting impacts on businesses, public spaces, and perceptions of safety. Commissioners emphasized the need for a broader, coordinated approach to homelessness across the city and region, alongside investments that support revitalization and long-term neighborhood vitality.
Staff are working hard behind the scenes to turn what we’ve heard into a strong, thoughtful plan for the River District’s future. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Help Shape the Vision for the River District The draft Vision Statement and Guiding Principles describe the community’s shared aspirations for the River District and the priorities we want to advance over time. Together, they will serve as the foundation for the Specific Plan, guiding future policies, strategies, and actions for the area.
