A series of storm systems is expected to affect the Sacramento region starting this weekend, with widespread precipitation and some winds expected.City officials are asking residents to take proactive steps to prepare their homes and neighborhoods for potential storm impacts, as leaves and debris can clog storm drains during storms and increase the risk of localized street flooding.Residents can do several things to prepare for storms:Use a broom or a rake to clear leaves and debris away from storm drains near you.Fill organic bins first before creating leaf piles.Follow leaf pile guidelines and keep them away from the gutter and storm drains.Secure outdoor furniture and decorations.City crews will be monitoring conditions during the storm and responding to issues as they arise, including clogged drains and debris on sidewalks and roads.Residents can report storm issues—such as street flooding and downed branches—by contacting the City’s 311 customer service center.
