Niños Parkway Ribbon Cutting
The City of Sacramento held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 30th for the Niños Parkway Phase 2 Shared Use Path.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Mayor Talamantes, staff from the Reclamation District 1000, SACOG, and the Public Works project team including Transportation Planning and the implementation team including Engineering Design and Survey.
The addition of this half-mile long shared use path continues the Niños Parkway from San Juan Road to the Parkebridge Neighborhood, creating almost two miles of comfortable, low stress shared use path through South Natomas. The project will complete a shared use path linking residential neighborhoods to neighborhood schools.
EV Blueprint Implementation Updates and New EV Carshare Incentives
The City’s EV Blueprint Implementation project just reached a major milestone: the expansion of five new carshare locations and the launch of EV carshare incentives!
Through a partnership with the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District’s Our Community Car Share (OCCS) program, income-qualified residents can now receive $100 in Zipcar driving credits. These credits will be distributed to new members who join OCCS through December 31st on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible residents, with a focus on underserved communities.
The incentive applies to residents who live within one mile of participating OCCS locations or meet income qualifications. Eligible OCCS sites include the new expansion sites at Valley Hi–North Laguna Library, Pannell Community Center, Mangan Park and South Natomas Community Center. Incentives to utilize the Belle Cooledge Library site are available only to residents who meet income qualifications.
The new EV carshare incentives are just one part of the broader EV Blueprint Implementation Project, a grant-funded initiative focused on reducing transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions and increasing equitable access to clean mobility options:As part of the project, the City has installed 67 EV chargers at 13 public locations, including libraries, community centers, and parks. These new EV chargers close gaps in the existing charging network, primarily in historically underserved neighborhoods, in order to expand access for residents who may not be able to charge at home or work. The EV Blueprint project also piloted an e-bike lending program through the Sacramento Public Library. The pilot, which launched in 2023 and was designed to sunset in December 2025, aims to introduce residents to electric-assist biking as an alternative to driving for short local trips. After two years of lending e-bikes at four library sites across the city, the last day to check-out an e-bike is December 6th.
The EV Blueprint Implementation Project was made possible through Public Works partnerships with the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, Sacramento Public Library, Zipcar, SacBreathe, and the California Energy Commission.
Residents can learn more, check eligibility and apply for car share incentives at cityofsacramento.gov/evblueprint.

Tip of the Month
Every year from November to January, residents who receive City of Sacramento solid waste collection can place their excess yard waste, including fallen leaves, in piles on public streets to be collected.
Proper leaf collection and placement is important to keep our community safe on the street:Avoid placing piles in bike lanes whenever possible
Allow space between the curb and pile to prevent storm drains from being blocked
Check the Collection Calendar for dates of service and sign up for weekly reminders or service change alerts
