TIM PUSHES FORWARD WITH INNOVATION: STRATEGIC AGREEMENT WITH
NOKIA TO BOOST THE 5G NETWORK IN ITALY
Two European leaders join forces for a more advanced and sustainable infrastructure
TIM announces the signing of an agreement with Nokia for the expansion and modernisation of the 5G
network, to provide advanced services to the Group’s customers and help bring ultra-broadband to
underserved areas.
The agreement will enable TIM customers to benefit from even faster and more stable mobile connections,
higher network quality in urban and rural areas, faster response times for digital applications and cloud
services, and more efficient experience for streaming, gaming, remote collaboration and digital services for
businesses and public administration.
“This partnership brings together two leaders in European innovation with the goal of enhancing the
continent’s technology supply chains and accelerating the development of strategic solutions for Europe’s
digital and industrial sovereignty”, stated TIM CEO Pietro Labriola.
On the technological side, the agreement provides for the adoption of latest-generation radio solutions and
network platforms, ready for integration with artificial intelligence and designed to offer greater capacity,
better performance and reduced energy consumption, helping to reduce the environmental impact of
infrastructure.
With this initiative, the Group is taking a further step in the profound industrial transformation it has been
undergoing over the last four years: a process that sees TIM focusing on the most advanced digital
infrastructure and high-potential services, with a simpler, more efficient operating model geared towards
industrial solidity.
The agreement therefore consolidates the company’s growth trajectory, based on technological innovation,
financial discipline and sustainability: the project contributes to TIM’s Net Zero plan, which integrates
industrial and environmental objectives for the development of more efficient and intelligent infrastructure.
Energy efficiency and control of power consumption are central elements in the Group’s path towards
decarbonization and responsible innovation.
This initiative also embodies the model of relationship that TIM promotes with its partners and suppliers:
collaborations based on quality, shared innovation, security, sustainability and contribution to the
development of the European industrial system. The goal is to build a technological supply chain capable of
growing together, accelerating innovation, supporting the national and European economy and ensuring
reliable and secure digital infrastructure.
