The Global Cooling Watch Report 2025 takes a deep dive into one of the decade’s most urgent challenges: surging heat, soaring cooling demand, and stark inequalities in access. The report provides a comprehensive assessment of the rapidly growing global demand for cooling and the need for climate-friendly solutions to the issue. New features include analysis of intensifying extreme heat and its effect on cooling demand, improved assessment of passive cooling, and coverage of low-energy and hybrid systems that reduce power use while maintaining comfort.
11 November 2025 | SE Room 3 | High-Level Event
The Beat the Heat/Mutirão Contra o Calor Extremo High-Level Event will present the first cohort of countries, cities, and partners joining the Beat the Heat Implementation Drive, led by the COP30 Brazilian Presidency and the UNEP-convened Cool Coalition. The initiative supports governments in assessing urban heat risks, developing and implementing Heat Action Plans, integrating passive and nature-based cooling into urban planning, deploying low-emission cooling technologies, and protecting vulnerable populations.
13 November 2025 | COP30 Action Agenda Thematic Spaces, Blue Zone | Launch of initiative
UNEP and the Climate High-Level Champions will launch the Food Waste Breakthrough — an initiative uniting national and subnational governments, philanthropies, non-profits, UN agencies, and private sector partners to accelerate global action over the next five years toward halving food waste by 2030, in line with SDG 12.3. The initiative aims to keep food out of landfills and achieve up to a 7% reduction in global methane emissions, contributing to the Global Methane Pledge.
14 November 2025 | 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM | Blue Zone I Ministerial
The International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) Ministerial, co-hosted by Japan and the European Commission, will convene ministers, industry leaders and civil society representatives to showcase the impact of IMEO’s data-driven solutions for methane mitigation. The event will also launch the updated IMEO Eye on Methane Data Platform to support governments, industry and civil society in this crucial climate effort.
14 November 2025 | Announcement
The Systematic Observations Impact Bond, a pioneering innovative finance mechanism will be announced as part of the COP30 Action Agenda. Led by the Systematic Observations Financing Facility — a UN fund created by UNEP, WMO, and UNDP — the bond will enable at least 30 Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States to close critical weather and climate data gaps, improving ultimately every forecast, climate action, and early warning system.
17 November 2025 | 14:30 – 15:30 | German Pavilion, Blue Zone | White Paper
The 2025 White Paper From Talk to Action: Making COP30 a Turning Point for Synergistic Climate-Nature Action outlines the progress and practical pathways for integrated implementation of the Rio Conventions. It highlights how countries are advancing away from fragmented, project-based action toward coherent planning, financing, and monitoring systems that deliver multiple benefits across the three agendas.
17 November 2025 | COP30 Media Centre | Publication
The 2025 Global Methane Status Report provides updates on global progress on methane mitigation and the remaining work needed to achieve the Global Methane Pledge, as well as the potential for further ambition. It will also provide momentum and incentive for rapid and increased action by showcasing successes, as well as an outlook on the role of empirical data and the financing of methane abatement.
