The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7)
Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet
8-12 Dec 2025
The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) will take place from 8 to 12 December 2025 at the headquarters of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya. This year, UNEA will be held under the theme, Advancing Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet.
The Assembly will include a high-level opening plenary, a multistakeholder dialogue, two dialogues focused on Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), three leadership dialogues, 18 official side events, exhibitions, and more.
UNEA-7 will be preceded by the Youth Environment Assembly from 29 to 30 November and the seventh session of the Open-Ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-7) from 1 to 5 December 2025 at UNEP HQ.
At OECPR-7, Member States will meet in formal plenary sessions and informal working groups to negotiate and finalize draft resolutions and decisions for adoption by the Assembly. The Ministerial Declaration and UNEP’s Medium-Term Strategy (MTS) for 2026-2029 and Programme of Work (POW) 2026-2027 are set to be adopted at UNEA-7.
The 21st Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum will also take place during UNEA-7, providing an avenue for key civil society stakeholders to craft their stances, statements, and contributions to the UNEA-7 process.
