City of Toronto celebrates 17 new inductees to the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour Class of 2025
This evening, the City of Toronto announced the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour Class of 2025, recognizing athletes, coaches, builders and legends who have demonstrated outstanding performance, leadership and sportsmanship.
The announcement took place at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, a legacy of the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, where Mayor Olivia Chow, veteran sports broadcaster Scott Russell, Toronto City Councillors and City staff recognized 17 new inductees for representing Toronto and achieving sporting excellence.
Toronto Sport Hall of Honour Class of 2025 inductees:
– Athlete of the Year: Summer McIntosh
– Athlete of the Year: Josh Liendo
– Special Olympic Athlete of the Year: Erica Machtinger
– Special Olympic Athlete of the Year : Matthew Fields
– Paralympic Athlete of the Year: Tamara Steeves
– Paralympic Athlete of the Year: Sebastian Massabie
– Team of the Year: Team Canada men’s 4x100M relay (Andre DeGrasse, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendon Rodney and Glenroy Gilbert (coach))
– Coach of the Year Prince Dankyi
– Corporate builder: Coreen Flemming
– Corporate Builder ProAction Cops & Kids
– City of Sport Lifetime Achievement: Blair McIntosh
– Sports Legends: Tracey Ferguson
– Sports Legends: Jamaal Magloire
– Spirit of Sport – Diversity & Inclusion: Toronto Inner City Rugby
– Community Sport Volunteer: Zita Pooran
– Community Sport Volunteer: Melvin John
– City of Sport Medal of Distinction: The Raptor (Toronto Raptors Mascot)
Among this year’s inductees are athletes who trained at City facilities such as the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, the Etobicoke Olympium, and the Toronto Track and Field Centre which continue to nurture world-class athletes.
The City’s commitment to community and improving facilities, access and pathways to sport excellence through legacy projects continues to be a focus as preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ get underway.
