Parliament’s priorities for the EU’s 2026 budget*
After the session opening, MEPs will discuss their priorities for next year’s EU budget with Commissioner Serafin. They are set to focus on strategic preparedness and security, economic competitiveness and resilience, sustainability, climate, and the single market. The vote will take place on Wednesday, followed by a press conference at 13.30.

MEPs input for the Savings and investments union initiative*
From around 18.30, MEPs and Commissioner Albuquerque will discuss new plans to help citizens turn their savings into profitable investments. The debate will explore safeguards to encourage people to invest safely and affordably, and address the main obstacles to investment, such as the fragmentation of EU financial markets, the lack of harmonised EU supervision, and weak investor confidence.

In brief*
Democratic pluralism, integrity and transparency. *From around 21.00, MEPs will discuss the proper use of EU funds, the place of interest representation in EU policy-making, the importance of transparency, and the need for a firm response to corruption.
Chemicals. *In the evening, Parliament will discuss with Commissioner Roswall a ‘one substance, one assessment’ chemicals package to increase the simplicity and transparency of EU rules. The vote will take place on Tuesday.
European Academics in the US. *In the evening, MEPs and Commissioner Zaharieva will consider the situation of European academics and researchers in the US and the impact on academic freedom.
European Cultural Compass. *From around 19.45, MEPs and Commissioner Micallef will debate the upcoming European Cultural Compass to provide a more strategic and coherent approach to EU cultural policy
