City of Toronto receives “No-Board” Report from Ministry of Labour
Today, the City of Toronto received a “No-Board” report from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development as part of the ongoing collective bargaining process with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 79, the union representing the City’s 27,000 inside workers. The “No-Board” Report means that the union will be in a legal strike position and the City in a legal lockout position at 12:01 a.m., or one minute past midnight, on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The City remains firmly committed to the bargaining process and has been at the table and available to meet with Local 79 to reach a fair and reasonable agreement that recognizes the vital contributions of City employees while ensuring value for Toronto residents and businesses, within the 17-day period before the deadline.
The City tabled its latest proposal the afternoon of Monday, February 17 and is awaiting the union’s reply.
In the event of a labour disruption, the City has contingency plans in place to continue delivering critical services that our residents, visitors and businesses rely on. Information about the City’s contingency plans will be announced when appropriate.
