(AGENPARL) – mar 21 gennaio 2025 The acclaimed French architect Manuelle Gautrand will design a new destination
hotel in Stockholm for Swedish real estate company AMF Fastigheter. The hotel
will be the heart of the district Marievik, which is currently undergoing a
major transformation. The project marks a big step for Marievik towards becoming
a vibrant district around-the-clock with a wide range of culture and food,
locally rooted and with international attraction.
Paris-based architect Manuelle Gautrand has a successful career both in France
and internationally. The hotel in Marievik, south of Stockholm, will be her
first building in Sweden. For this BSK Arkitekter is a partner, who together
with Manuelle Gautrand will realize the plan.
The sixteen-story hotel with about 180 rooms is carefully designed to combine
international attractiveness with local roots. It will offer an experience for
both Stockholmers on staycation and more long-distance guests with restaurants,
bars, world class Swedish wellness area, sky pool, co-working spaces and a roof
garden with lovely views of Stockholm across the water.
“Marievik has enormous potential and it is a pleasure to contribute to its
development. Our project should symbolize a revival of the place. The concept is
simple and minimalistic, but at the same time plays with volumes as a tribute to
the postmodern architecture of the area. We also create green spaces, such as
gardens and terraces, to bring the building to life,” says architect Manuelle
Gautrand.
This is AMF Fastigheter’s largest urban development project to date, led by
their Project Development Manager Johan Lindskog. The company has invested 3.5
bn SEK in the district. Located just a stone’s throw from the vibrant area in
Stockholm called Södermalm, the area is transformed into a dynamic district that
combines urban life with the tranquility of the water – a city-nature-merge that
Stockholm is famous for. The process of finding the right operator to run the
hotel is now beginning, which is planned to take place in the spring of 2025.
“Marievik is on its way to becoming a fantastic oasis – a unique combination of
Stockholm’s exploratory city life and nature’s beauty by the water. It is an
honour that a prominent architect like Manuelle Gautrand, sees the potential in
the area and wants to design the hotel, which will be the heart of Marievik and
contribute to dynamism,” says Thomas Erséus, CEO at AMF Fastigheter.
Stockholm in a sustainable transformation
The development in Marievik is driven by an exploratory view of sustainability –
ecological, social and cultural. For this to be a vibrant and inclusive place,
AMF Fastigheter has involved companies and visitors to gain insights into their
needs and driving forces. These insights have landed in a number of urban
development principles to ensure that Marievik becomes a place that inspires and
promotes creativity, quality of life and human encounters.
“We want Stockholm to continue its development and be even more creative and
vibrant. In Marievik we are creating a place where work life and city life meet
in an innovative and playful environment. It is a vision for the future that we
are proud to realize,” concludes Thomas Erséus.
