LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S
SHARING HOPE INITIATIVE PROVIDES 850 POUNDS OF FOOD
TO THE CHRISTMAS CHEER BOARD OF WINNIPEG
Earlier this week, Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville visited the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg to deliver
over 850 pounds of non-perishable food items. The donation also included numerous toys and over
$1,000 collected by the staff and aides to the lieutenant-governor.
“As lieutenant-governor, I want to use my voice to do what I can to raise awareness of food insecurity
throughout our province and encourage others to join me in taking an active role to support our
neighbours and friends in feeding their families,” said Neville. “Access to nutritious food is a
fundamental human right. I continue to be overwhelmed by the response since launching the program last
year. The generosity of Manitobans is awe-inspiring. It is my intent to continue this program for the
duration of my time in office.”
Food donations were collected through the Lieutenant Governor’s Sharing Hope Initiative, a program
initiated by Lt-Gov. Neville which invites guests to bring non-perishable food items when attending
Government House events throughout the year.
Non-perishable food items collected are distributed on an ongoing basis to different organizations
throughout the province.
