U.S. Sanctions Entities and Individuals Providing Financial, Military, and Procurement Support to the DPRK
Press Statement
December 16, 2024
The United States is today designating eleven individuals and eight entities for their actions enabling the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and its support to Russia.
On October 31, 2024, the DPRK conducted an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test, the first since December 2023. Subsequently, on November 5, 2024, the DPRK continued its series of provocations by firing at least seven short-range ballistic missiles off the eastern coast of the peninsula. These tests reflect the DPRK’s increasingly hostile global military posturing and needlessly raise tensions while destabilizing peace and security in the region. The DPRK has also sent soldiers to Russia, where they have been integrated with Russian forces. The DPRK has provided Russia with military equipment, munitions, ballistic missile launchers and ballistic missiles. The DPRK continues to prioritize revenue generation to support the development of its unlawful WMD and ballistic missile programs, using foreign-based workers, state-owned entities, and financial institutions to access the international financial system.
Pursuant to E.O. 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, the Department of State is designating two individuals and one entity related to the DPRK’s unlawful WMD and ballistic missile programs.

The Department of the Treasury actions today were taken pursuant to Executive Order 13382, 13551, 13687, 13810, and 14024.
