The operator of Italy’s national power grid confirms its strong commitment to tackling inequality and
creating an inclusive and meritocratic work environment
The number of women at the Group companies continues to grow
Rome, 14 March 2024 – Terna, the operator of the national power grid, has received a certificate
from the certifying body IMQ – Istituto Italiano Marchio di Qualità – confirming the compliance of its
Gender Equality Management System with the standard UNI/PdR 125:2022.
The audit performed by the certifying body took place in person and remotely and looked at a
sample of seven organisational structures of the four Group companies – Terna S.p.A., Terna Rete
Italia S.p.A., Terna Energy Solutions Srl, and Terna Plus Srl – for a total of around 90 hours of
auditing.
The IMQ evaluators certified that this achievement was the result of implementing renewed and
improved principles and criteria within the Group, bringing them further into line with the new
Gender Equality Management System. The GEMS was implemented in early 2023 through the
close collaboration of various company areas.
This certification marks the 14th integrated management system implemented and managed by
Terna. The Group’s focus on the certification of its process governance systems is also
demonstrated through comparison with other businesses in the sector, both nationally and
internationally. Terna ranks well above the average of large Italian companies and European and
global TSOs.
The achievement of this goal highlights the commitment of the Group – led by Giuseppina Di
Foggia – towards equality and equal opportunities for recruitment, growth, development, and
remuneration. In line with the founding values of its Code of Ethics, Terna develops and promotes
diversity and prevents all forms of discrimination, and encourages respect, collaboration, and
talent, and rewards merit. Multiple initiatives are active at every level to increase the awareness of
