Recycling company fined over £2 million after worker killed [ https://press.hse.gov.uk/2024/01/26/recycling-company-fined-after-worker-killed-by-loading-shovel/?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=press-channels-push&utm_term=recycling-fatal-headline&utm_content=digest-1-feb-24 ]
*The worker was struck and killed by a loading shovel while walking across a traffic area on site.*
HSE’s investigation into the incident found that the recycling company:
* failed to protect pedestrians from the mobile plant operations it was carrying out at the site
* had no suitable traffic management arrangements in place, so pedestrians were at risk of being struck by moving vehicles, including loading shovels
