IMAGINE! 100 Years of International Surrealism celebrates the 100th anniversary of André Breton’s Manifesto and the art movement.
Through some 140 works of art (paintings, works on paper, sculptures, objects, assemblages and photographs), the exhibition focuses on the links between Surrealism and Symbolism, its precursor, embodied in particular by Félicien Rops, Léon Spilliaert and Fernand Khnopff.
The exhibition is structured through 10 major themes, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world and the spirit of the leading artists of international Surrealism such as René Magritte, Max Ernst, Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Jane Graverol, Dorothea Tanning, Man Ray, Leonor Fini…
The initiative was developed in close collaboration with the Centre George Pompidou (Paris). After Brussels and Paris, the exhibition will travel to the
Fundación Mapfré in Madrid, then to the Hamburger Kunsthalle, and
finally to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.Copyright : Max Ernst, The Fireside Angel (The Triumph of Surrealism) (1937) Private collection © Sabam Belgium, 2024

As Brussels celebrates the 100th anniversary of surrealism, some of René Magritte's works will be traveling and gracing the walls of other exhibitions and museums. The Magritte Museum is taking advantage of this period to create a dialogue between the fascinating world of René Magritte and the poetic creations of Jean-Michel Folon.
Magritte·Folon (https://fine-arts-museum.be/en/exhibitions/magrittefolon) is more than an exhibition, it’s a dreamlike encounter and a fruitful dialogue between two unique worlds of imagination.
