In occasione del “Pakistan-Italy Friendship Forum – civil societies dialogue 3.0”, si è svolto venerdì
24 novembre 2023, presso l’ambasciata pakistana di Roma, un incontro sul tema “Interfaith and
harmony: rights of women, children and minorities”.
Oltre a S.E. Ali Javed, Ambasciatore del Pakistan in Italia, erano presenti l’europarlamentare Dr
Fabio Massimo Castaldo, la Dott.ssa Valeria Martano, coordinatrice dipartimento Asia per la
Comunità di Sant’Egidio, il Dr Salvatore Giufrida, giornalista di Repubblica e l’Ing Domenico
Palmieri Segretario, Generale di ISIA – Istituto Italiano per l’Asia.
È stato proiettato anche un video-messaggio di S.E. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Special Assistant to
Prime Minister on Human Rights and Woman Empowerment.
Diversi sono stati i temi trattati durante la discussione che è stata molto approfondita. Sono
emersi spunti di riflessione interessanti che saranno oggetto di iniziative future.
Dopo la Brexit, in Italia è presente la comunità pakistana più numerosa d’Europa che conta circa
300.000 individui, soprattutto giovani. Molti di loro sono studenti brillanti che possono
rappresentare anche una risorsa importante per le aziende italiane.
Il dialogo interreligioso, l’ascolto, la comprensione sono strumenti importanti che possono aiutare
una convivenza pacifica e migliorare le relazioni fra Italia e Pakistan.

On the occasion of the “Pakistan-Italy Friendship Forum – civil societies dialogue 3.0”, a meeting on
the topic “Interfaith and harmony: rights of women, children and minorities” took place on Friday
24 November 2023, at the Pakistani embassy in Rome.
Besides to H.E. Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy, were present MEP Dr Fabio Massimo
Castaldo, Dr Valeria Martano, Asia department coordinator for Community of Sant’Egidio, Dr
Salvatore Giufrida, journalist Repubblica and Eng Domenico Palmieri Secretary General of ISIA –
Italian Institute for Asia.
A video message from H.E. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Human
Rights and Woman Empowerment was shown.
Several topics were covered during the discussion which was very in-depth. Interesting points for
reflection have emerged which will be the subject of future initiatives.
After Brexit, Italy has the largest Pakistani community in Europe, numbering around 300,000
individuals, especially young people. Many of them are brilliant students who can also represent
an important resource for Italian companies.
Interfaith and harmony are important tools that can help peaceful coexistence and improve
relations between Italy and Pakistan.
