Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women: MEPs to take stock of developments*
In a debate starting at 9.00 with Commissioner Dubravka Šuica, MEPs are set to urge for progress in the talks between EP and Council negotiators on EU rules to tackle the scourge of gender-based violence, and insist on the inclusion of a definition of rape based on the lack of consent.

Improving the situation of young researchers*
In the afternoon, MEPs will discuss ways to remedy the challenging and precarious situation facing young researchers in Europe, a major obstacle to the development of a successful European Research Area.

Spyware: MEPs to call for action *
Following yesterday’s debate, MEPs will vote on a resolution at noon urging the Commission to propose appropriate measures in response to reports of spyware use stifling civil society, democratic opposition, and journalists in EU member states.

In brief*
Judicial cooperation. *From around 10.30, MEPs will debate the digitalisation of cross-border judicial cooperation with Commissioner Dubravka Šuica. The new rules will ensure better access to justice in the EU and should reduce costs and delays in cross-border judicial proceedings in the EU. The vote will take place at noon.

Between 12.00 and 13.00, plenary will vote, among others, on:
a resolution on a new pollinators’ initiative; the latest attacks against women and women’s rights defenders in Iran, and Iran’s arbitrary detention of EU nationals; the unlawful detention of President Mohamed Bazoum in Niger; the killing of Tamaz Ginturi, a Georgian citizen, by Russia’s occupying forces in Georgia; standards for national equality bodies to fight discrimination; the work of the Parliament’s Committee on Petitions in 2022; the strategic Compass and EU space-based defence capabilities, and an innovative humanitarian aid strategy.
