CUT VC hosts the Enactus team to celebrate their national championship achievements.
Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Pamela Dube hosted a congratulatory ceremony for the Enactus CUT team following their second consecutive national championship win. Following a clean sweep at the regional competitions held in April this year, where they presented their worm farming project, they claimed victory yet again at the Enactus National Exposition.
“The CUT community is extremely proud to be gathered here for this very special occasion. I’m very excited. I have always followed Enactus everywhere I’ve been and encouraged students to be part of it. Enactus CUT is so well supported by a very capable team is very gratifying. Your achievement is a real testament that we here at CUT are really ‘a CUT above the rest’ and living our Vision 2030 regarding innovation and entrepreneurship. We are proud of the Enactus CUT team has returned home as the national champion this is the second time that the CUT team has been crowned national champions. Your relentless pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to creating a better world has truly set you apart,” said CUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof Pamela Dube.
Faculty advisor Prof Crispen Chipunza and co-faculty advisors Dr Patient Rambe and Maraka Lefera have been supporting the students, encouraging them to explore their potential. “These are students living and breathing CUT’’s graduate attributes from communication, teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving as well as leadership, which they have demonstrated since last year. This is not the only student organisation on campus, but the impact that it has had on our students has been quite massive. The ability for them to network, meet CEO’s and having face to face interactions with them has been great exposure for them,” said Prof Chipunza.
Masego More, a final year Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering student and current Enactus CUT President, added that the support and knowledge they have received on this journey has truly inspired them to aim higher.
“Enactus really empowers us leaders, especially in the industries that we are in as entrepreneurs. Our programme is in alignment with CUT’s Vision 2030 where it centres around fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, that is what Enactus stands for and we have been enabled by Enactus to be able to materialise it and translate it into attainable actions and outcomes and we are standing here today because of that, not just conceptualising it but we are actually living it. and it is because of the support that we get from Enactus CUT, where we are exposed to amazing faculty advisors as well as a business advisory board who have steered us and allowed us to be groomed in the actual corporate world. We represent ourselves very well because of this,” said More.
As national winners, they will be representing the country at the Enactus World Cup 2023 in Utrecht, Netherlands, scheduled in October. The team will compete against 34 other game-changing country teams.
