CUT joins Mangaung Metro for a 67 Minutes clean-up campaign of the CBD
The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) and the Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) spent their ‘67 Minutes for Madiba’ cleaning up the CBD; in commemoration of Nelson Mandela International Day, which is celebrated on his birthday,18 July each year.
CUT Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Alfred Ngowi, accompanied by management, staff and students joined MMM Acting Executive Mayor, Councillor Gregory Nthatisi joined by members of the mayoral committee partook in the clean-up campaign under the theme: solidarity in reducing climate change and food security.
This is a continuation of an established relationship between [CUT and Mangaung Metro](https://www.cut.ac.za/news/cut-and-mangaung-metro-renew-their-long-stand). The campaign focused on cleaning Hoffman Square, the Mangaung Library, Central Park, and Charlotte Maxeke Street; located in Bloemfontein’s Central Business District.

This is our modest way of contributing toward a liveable and sustainable environment in the metro and reducing our carbon footprint.
