Ranking Member David Scott Applauds Investments in Small Meat and Poultry Processors
WASHINGTON – House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member David Scott today released the below statement after U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that USDA is making investments to increase independent meat and poultry processing capacity, expand market opportunities for farmers, and support a growing workforce in rural areas.
“Supporting our small meat and poultry producers and processors is key to increasing market competition, lowering costs for consumers, and improving resiliency in our domestic supply chain. I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for these investments, which will expand opportunities for our farmers and bring jobs to rural America. I’m proud to have supported these funds, along with Agriculture Committee Democrats, by helping to pass the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.”
