IN THE ERA OF PRECISION MEDICINE
Directors of the Course
Prof. Marcello Ciaccio, Prof. Mario Plebani, Prof. Francesco Salvatore
ERICE – TRAPANI – SICILY
12-13 June 2023
PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
Laboratory Medicine has a pivotal role in Clinical Medicine, from screening to
diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and guiding and monitoring therapy. It is a
constantly evolving branch of Medicine and technology represents the common
thread. Significant progress has been achieved in the last decades, which has
revolutionized the aims of the Laboratory Medicine, switching from a specimencentered to patient-centered vision, paving the way toward Precision and
Personalized Medicine.
The purpose of the Course is to present the last discoveries in Laboratory
Medicine and their applications in Clinical Practice.
The main topics of the Course are the Big Data applied to health and disease, the
Ageing, presented from an innovative and unconventional point of view, and new
advancement in cancer immunotherapy. A session will be focused on COVID-19
and the last scientific evidence on the SARS-CoV-2 infection.
