(AGENPARL) - Roma, 15 Maggio 2023(AGENPARL) – BRUXELLES lun 15 maggio 2023
On 24 May, the European Commission will present its proposal establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials for the green and digital transformation and there will be an exchange of views amongst the ENVI Members.
After having assessed the criticality of different raw materials in its 2008 Raw Material Initiative and the 2020 Action Plan on Critical Raw Materials (CRM), the European Commission is now proposing a Critical Raw Materials Act, containing regulatory actions designed to ensure that the EU has access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials. Such materials, and their securing, are indispensable for the strengthening of the European industrial value chains and to achieve the EU’s goals for the upscale of green technologies and global competitiveness. This Regulation provides measures to diversify the EU’s imports to reduce dependencies, to improve the EU’s capacity to monitor and mitigate disruption risks to CRM supply, and ensure the free movement of critical raw materials on the single market. ENVI will provide an opinion on the Regulation.
