The Manchester China Institute (MCI) and Creative Manchester launched the exhibition for the 2023 UK-China International Photography Competition on Wednesday May 3 at the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS). The exhibit displays smartphone photographs and accompanying bilingual short stories on the topic of “family treasures”, to overcome linguistic divides and focuses on our common humanity to promote mutual understanding in UK-China relations.
The exhibition features the top 30 entries from this year’s 5th edition, selected from hundreds of international submissions. The finalists and winners were selected by a judging panel comprised of Prof Michael Wood (University of Manchester), Dr Zhang Hai (Yunnan University), Xiaowen Zhu (ESEA Director), and Dr Bingchun Meng (LSE).
The winning photos were unveiled at AMBS by Greater Manchester High Sheriff, Gerry Yeung, Manchester Museum Director, Esme Ward, Creative Manchester Director, John McAuliffe, and Head of DDAR at the University of Manchester, Kate Cambden.
