(AGENPARL) – ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE ven 28 aprile 2023
The workshop, aimed at children in cycle 4 of the fundamental education system, was led by Hugo Parlier, Laurent Loosveldt, and Bruno Teheux from the Department of Mathematics (DMATH) and Ann Kiefer from the Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing (LUCET). The DMATH team provided the participants with an opportunity to experience the role of a mathematician by solving homemade mathematical puzzles.
The DMATH team’s approach was to provide a collaborative environment, inspiring children to work in teams. Although the workshop and the puzzles presented were challenging, the children were enthusiastic and engaged throughout. They embraced the opportunity to delve deeper into mathematics, gaining new insights into the nature of mathematics.
The D’Yep Schoulfoire event aims to encourage young people to reflect on their future career and educational paths. The DMATH workshop was a part of this larger vision, fostering an interest of mathematics and opening the children’s eyes to its hidden aspects.
The DMATH team’s participation was a success with positive feedback from the children and their teachers alike. The animators’ encouragement helped inspire and build confidence in the children as they explored the world of mathematical puzzles.
