Russian war crimes: deportation of Ukrainian children and Putin’s arrest warrant
From 9.00, MEPs will discuss with Commission Vice-President Jourová and Swedish Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children from occupied Ukraine to the Russian Federation. In a separate debate in the evening, plenary will assess repression in Russia, in particular the cases of Vladimir Kara-Murza and Alexei Navalny. A resolution to wrap-up this second debate will be put to the vote on Thursday.
First piece of EU legislation to ensure supervision of crypto-assets
New EU rules on crypto-markets and transfers of crypto-assets will be the focus of a plenary debate with Commissioner McGuinness starting at around 14.00. A key aim of the legislation is ensuring the traceability of crypto-asset transfers – to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, among other crimes – while enhancing consumer protection and environmental standards in this emerging sector. The vote on the already-agreed texts will take place on Thursday.
