• One single media access badge for Parliament, valid for all EU Institutions
• No additional key-card for Parliament necessary in the future
• Entry to Parliament’s premises remains possible upon presentation of existing inter-institutional press badge
From April 11 2023, an upgraded inter-institutional press badge will be available giving full access to all areas of Parliament without needing an additional key card.
At present, inter-institutional press badges grant journalists access to all EU institutions but a separate electronic key card is required to access some areas in Parliament that separate the visitors/public from the political/press work zones.
Following work by the security and technical teams at both the European Parliament and the European Commission, the inter-institutional press badge has now been upgraded to include access to these areas within the European Parliament without the need for an additional electronic key card.
For technical reasons (re-programming) however, you will need to be re-issued with a new inter-institutional press badge in order to have automatic access inside Parliament. These new re-programmed inter-institutional badges will be available from the European Commission from 11/04/2023, by appointment:
Service Card Office, Rue Philippe Le Bon 3 (Ground floor).
In the meantime, entry to Parliament itself only requires you to present your current inter-institutional press badge. The European Parliament key cards that were due to expire on 28/02/2023 have been automatically (and remotely) extended until the 31/05/2023 in order to avoid any discontinuity in your access to certain areas inside Parliament’s buildings during this transitional phase.
