(AGENPARL) – LONDON mer 15 marzo 2023

Members of the Prospect trade union will undertake a day of strike action on Wednesday, 15 March, which will include some Met police staff in areas such as crime scene examiners and other forensic specialists.
We understand that this may cause concern for members of the public as to how this will affect our level of service in terms of how we will manage attendance at crime scenes, progress examinations and deal with calls.
The Met has put several measures in place to mitigate the reduction in staff in that we will prioritise our response and support in attending the most serious crime scenes, and undertake urgent and critical laboratory, and digital forensic examinations, making best use of staff on duty to cover as many scenes and requests as quickly as we can.
Where a non-urgent response is required we will be speaking with the public to ask for their patience, and to preserve some items and surfaces until we can attend the day after strike action.
We appreciate that a period of waiting may cause concern, but we are committed to reducing and managing the impact of the strike action to ensure we continue to do all we can to support victims, investigations and maintain key evidence capture in our pursuit to bring offenders to justice.
The strike action refers to police staff only, not police officers and so Londoners will not see a reduced frontline capacity.
