FAO at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture
The focus of this year’s GFFA is transforming agrifood systems | Berlin, 18-21 January 2023
How can we create resilient and sustainable agrifood systems and preserve biological diversity? What is needed to improve collaboration to achieve this? These questions and many more will be in the limelight in Berlin, Germany, at the 2023 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture ([GFFA](https://gffa-berlin.de/en)) held under the main theme of agrifood systems transformation.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will play a key role in the three-day conference that concludes with the world’s largest informal agriculture ministers’ summit.
FAO expert panels will explore the gaps and opportunities in [financing sustainable agrifood systems transformation](https://gffa-berlin.de/en/expert_panel/fao/) (4:00 p.m. 19 January), discuss whether the [Codex Alimentarius system is fit for the future](https://gffa-berlin.de/en/expert_panel/fao-who/) (9:30 a.m., 20 January), as well as look into the potential of [urban and local food systems for transforming our food systems](https://gffa-berlin.de/en/expert_panel/esf-fao/) (11:30 a.m., 20 January).
Among the FAO speakers and panel guests will be:
– Maria Helena Semedo, FAO Deputy Director-General
– Maximo Torero, FAO Chief Economist
– Stefanos Fotiou, Director, FAO Office of Sustainable Development Goals
– Tom Heilandt, Secretary, FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission
– Raimund Jehle, FAO Regional Programme Leader for Europe and Central Asia
During the [Innovation Forum](https://gffa-berlin.de/en/expert-forums/innovation-forum/) on 19–20 January, two back-to-back stands will await visitors with information on FAO’s efforts to help strengthen the link between science, research, and innovation, and present projects that support national and local partners in accelerating actions towards climate-friendly agrifood systems.
The GFFA takes place on 18–21 January 2023 in Berlin, Germany in physical-only format. Register [here](https://gffa-berlin.de/en/registration/) for the event.
