Join us in person or virtually for a discussion with author Louisa Treger about her novel Madwoman, based on the life of a trailblazing journalist Nellie Bly, on November 9, 2022, 12:00-1:00 PM EST (US and Canada). Bly faked madness and had herself committed to a lunatic asylum in order to expose the dreadful conditions at Blackwell’s asylum in 1887. Treger will talk about how she used the resources at the Library of Congress, including Chronicling America, to research this spellbinding story. “Made at the Library” is an event series highlighting works inspired by and emerging from research at the Library of Congress. Featuring authors, artists, and other creators in conversation with Library experts, this series takes a deep dive into the process of working with the Library’s collections.
