Althea e Caricasulo: gara dominata, podio sfumato!
Althea and Caricasulo: dominated race, vanished podium!
Gara2 di Portimao finisce fuori dal podio per Althea e Caricasulo. Federico, partito dalla seconda posizione, è rimasto in testa fino a tre giri dalla fine, dominando la gara e rispondendo a tutti gli attacchi degli avversari, questa volta numerosi.
Alla fine purtroppo, l’unica sbavatura è costata cara e nell’arrivo in volata il podio è sfumato per 5 millesimi che non rendono giustizia ad una prestazione più vicina al dominio che al semplice controllo, su una moto ancora limitata sotto troppi aspetti prestazionali per via del regolamento che ha pesantemente influito sul campionato.
In un week end iniziato con il podio, considerando la prestazione di oggi, la conseguenza più naturale sarebbe stata una vittoria che comunque è alla portata e arriverà.
Race 2 in Portimao ends off the podium for Althea and Caricasulo. Federico, who started from second position, remained in the lead up to three laps from the end, dominating the race and responding to all the attacks of his opponents, this time numerous.
In the end, unfortunately, the only flaw cost dearly and in the final sprint the podium vanished by 5 thousandths which do not do justice to a performance closer to domination than to simple control, on a bike still limited in too many performance aspects to via the regulation that heavily influenced the championship.
In a weekend that started with the podium, considering today’s performance, the most natural consequence would have been a victory that is still within reach and will come.
Rispetto a ieri sicuramente la moto funzionava meglio. Sono stato a mio agio per tutta la gara riuscendo a contrattaccare nei confronti di chiunque mi passasse perchè volevo essere io a fare il ritmo. Purtroppo è andato tutto bene fino all’ultimo giro e l’errore che ho fatto è stato quello di voler fare il finale su Aegerter e prepararmi ad un attacco su di lui. Per questo mi ero preparato tanto l’uscita e sono rimasto largo per attaccarlo in cima al salitone.
In quel momento sono stato passato da due avversari a cui non sono riuscito a rispondere subito, perdendo poi il podio per 5 millesimi.
Le gare sono così. Bisognava tener conto che non c’era solo un avversario e oggi la fregatura è stata quella. Abbiamo comunque fatto una bella gara e ad ogni week end siamo sempre più forti. E’ arrivato il primo podio, arriverà anche la prima vittoria.
Compared to yesterday, the bike certainly worked better. I was comfortable throughout the race managing to fight back against anyone who passed me because I wanted to be the one to set the pace. Unfortunately everything went well until the last lap and the mistake I made was that I wanted to finish on Aegerter and prepare for an attack on him. For this I had prepared a lot for the exit and I stayed wide to attack him at the top of the salitone.
At that moment I was passed by two opponents to whom I was unable to respond immediately, then losing the podium by 5 thousandths.
This is racing. It was necessary to take into account that there was not only one opponent and today that was the rip-off. We still had a good race and every weekend we are stronger and stronger. The first podium has arrived, the first victory will arrive too.
Chiudiamo il week end fuori dal podio con l’amaro in bocca perché in una gara dominata sin dal via, con tante battaglie vinte nel corpo a corpo e senza timori reverenziali, abbiamo avuto un finale non all’altezza delle aspettative.
La moto ha bisogno di aggiornamenti e di una regolamentazione più corretta dal punto di vista delle concessioni tecniche.
Mi dispiace soprattutto per Federico che ha fatto una delle sue gare migliori qui in Supersport. Negli anni passati c’erano meno protagonisti mentre quest’anno i numerosi avversari hanno portato a gare tiratissime sotto tutti i punti di vista.
La fotografia di oggi vede un dominio che purtroppo non si è concretizzato ma andiamo a casa con la consapevolezza di aver fatto veramente un grande lavoro e di avere finalmente un pacchetto moto-pilota che può puntare stabilmente in alto nell’immediato futuro.
We close the weekend off the podium with a bitter taste because in a race dominated from the start, with so many battles won in the body to the body and without awe, we had a final not up to expectations.
The bike needs updates and a more correct regulation from the point of view of technical concessions.
I am especially sorry for Federico who did one of his best races here in Supersport. In past years there were fewer protagonists while this year the numerous opponents led to very tight races from all points of view.
Today’s photography sees a domain that unfortunately has not materialized but we go home with the awareness that we have really done a great job and that we finally have a motorcycle-rider package that can steadily aim high in the immediate future.
