This month, as we mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we reflect on how she supported the Library and played a pivotal part in many key milestones of our history. We share her passion for public service, uniting people – locally, nationally and internationally – and are proud to be one of the legacies of her reign.

We know we have a bigger impact as a community working together than on our own. The Green Libraries Partnership brings libraries together to collaborate for a brighter climate future. As a founding member, we helped launch its Manifesto, which sets out sustainability principles for libraries and their communities to work to minimise their environmental impact.

Books without Borders

In the First Lady of Ukraine’s words, ‘Books not only entertain and educate us – they also unite us and bring us back to a feeling of home.’ We hosted a special event to mark the launch of Books Without Borders, an initiative by Olena Zelenska to distribute thousands of books to Ukrainian children displaced by the war.
