The Library of Congress is accepting applications for a Medical Records Technician, GS-07, until July 15, 2022.
The Medical Records and Health Information Technician position is in the Health Services Office (HSO), Integrated Support Services (ISS) Directorate, Office of Support Operations, OSO, Library of Congress (LC). The Medical Records Technician is responsible for maintaining patient files included in a health information portfolio. This information includes medical history, symptoms, examination results, diagnostic tests, treatment methods and all other healthcare provider services. The incumbent organizes and manages health information data accessibility, and security in both paper and electronic systems. Regularly communicates with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The technician utilizes the electronic health records (EHR) computer software, maintaining EHR security, and analyzing electronic data to improve healthcare information. The Medical Records and Health information technician will use EHR software to maintain data on patient safety, patterns of disease, and disease treatment and outcome. May assist with improving EHR software usability and contribute to the development and maintenance of health information networks. The technician will use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information.
