(AGENPARL) – HEMPSTEAD (NEW YORK) ven 24 giugno 2022

Today, in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The Dobbs decision found that the right to abortion is not a right grounded in the Constitution so under our system, the legal status of abortion must be decided on a state-by-state basis. This means that state legislatures now have the ability to expand, restrict, or outlaw abortion.
In New York State, reproductive healthcare and abortion remain, as Governor Hochul affirmed this morning, safe, accessible and legal. Hofstra University cares deeply about the health and welfare of all of our students and employees and nothing in the Dobbs decision changes that.
We are living in turbulent times in so many ways. I encourage everyone to consider how you might find solace, whether by talking to a friend or relative, or through community engagement and action. As always, counseling is available for students through Student Counseling Services and Employees through the Employee Assistance Program to work through your reaction to today’s news, or other issues you are facing.
Sincerely,
Susan
