Key Points:
Since President Biden took office, nearly 8.7 million jobs have been created nationwide, an average of 542,000 created each month.
Currently, 15 states have unemployment rates at or below previous record lows.
Seven states saw significant job gains, with the other 40 states and the District of Columbia statistically unchanged.
Each month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) releases national and state-level data on U.S. employment, which provide useful information about the state of the labor market and progress toward building a better America. To highlight key trends in the monthly data, the Joint Economic Committee compiles state-by-state fact sheets for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The most recent state-level data, which cover the month of May, were released on June 21, 2022. The latest national data were released on June 3, 2022.
Fact sheets will be updated next on July 25, 2022, following the BLS release of new state employment data on July 22.
