Ratification of the BOL means lasting peace, inclusive growth- PRRD

(AGENPARL) – Manila (Philippines), mer 23 gennaio 2019 COTABATO CITY, Jan. 23 (PIA) –“I am very hopeful that with the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, Mindanao can finally enjoy long lasting peace and inclusive growth that will benefit the entire Philippines, not only you (Bangsamoro).”
These were the very words of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his attendance to the Peace Assembly for the Ratification of the Republic Act No. 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) held at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City recently.
“I am proud to say that the BOL has undergone comprehensive analysis and thorough review to ensure that once implemented, it will lead to better governance, inclusive political empowerment, and enhanced systems for transparency and accountability,” he added.
Duterte also appealed to the Bangsamoro people to appreciate the historic importance of the January 21 and February 6 plebiscite.
“Your approval of this law will not only serve as an expression of your desire to end more than half a century of armed struggle in the region. It will also serve as a testament to your determination to bring genuine peace and development in Muslim Mindanao through an autonomous government that truly represents and understands the needs of the people,” the president emphasized.
The BOL, once ratified, will replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that promises greater autonomy to the regions it will cover.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Al Haj Murad Ebrahim commended President Duterte for realizing the dream of every Moro.
“Had you not become the president, we have no BOL, we have no Bangsamoro government,” Murad told President Duterte.
He also appealed to the participants during the assembly to give BOL a chance.
“We know that the challenges ahead for us are much greater than what we have surpassed in the past. It is not an easy job to transform from revolutionary governance. We know that many of us have never been in the government, although we have been in this struggle for more than 40 years, but Inshallah, with our persistence and with our continued efforts, we will succeed,” Murad said.
