NEW FESTIVAL SPONSOR SUPPORTS COMMUNITY BASED WEEKEND

(AGENPARL) – OXFORD (ENGLAND), mar 20 ottobre 2020

Published: Tuesday, 20th October 2020

A new sponsor is supporting a fund for low income families to take part in the 2020 Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival.

Oxford Business Park has given money towards microgrants for streets to take part in Local Light Trails and Doorstep Celebrations during the festival weekend from 20-22 November.

“Oxford Business Park has the community at its heart and we are delighted to be sponsors of Oxford’s Christmas Lights Festival 2020. It’s one of many community projects that we are proud to be involved with this year and is a great way to kick off the Christmas Festivities.”

Jodie Macnamara, Community Manager at Oxford Business Park

In a change from previous years, instead of a lantern parade around the city centre, the festival is encouraging residential streets to create their own illuminated installations. Grants of up to £50 will go towards supporting streets wanting to take part, helping to buy resources and materials for anyone needing additional help.

Oxford Business Park are also sponsoring a special mobile installation in the form of a decorated bus. The Oxford Bus Company’s open-top vehicle will be lit up and feature ‘stained glass’ windows created by artist Andrew Manson.

Households taking part in registered local light trails will be entered into a prize draw to win a trip on the festival bus. They will travel around the city accompanied by a special guest – Santa.

“I am delighted that as one of the sponsors for the Christmas Light Festival this year, Oxford Business Park will be helping to bring our communities together to celebrate. We want to ensure that everyone can celebrate the festival and help to light up their street. I encourage anyone who is interested in a grant to visit the website.”

Councillor Mary Clarkson, Cabinet Member for City Centre, Covered Market and Culture

There is more information about taking part in the festival and how to apply for grants are on the website.
