Clarke University’s Keith Johnson (SO/Dubuque, Iowa) and Darius Lasley (SR/Tama, Iowa) have been named to the NAIA Men’s Basketball Division I All-America Team. Lasley earned second-team All-American honors, while Johnson was cited as an honorable mention All-American.
Three teams of 10 players each comprised the three teams, along with the 55 player honorable mention list.
“Excited about the national recognition for Darius and Keith,” said Clarke Head Coach Jim Blaine. “They both had outstanding seasons. Darius and Keith were a huge component of our team’s success this season and the entire program is ecstatic about the honors they received. It’s a reflection of the efforts they put forth for the team.”
Lasley led Blaine’s squad in scoring (17.4 ppg) rebounding (7 rpg), assists (130) and steals (74). He ranked fourth nationally in steals and eighth in steals per game (2.3). Lasley shot 49.6 percent from the field, 43.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.2 percent from the charity stripe.
Johnson led the Pride in three-point field goals made (101) and ranked second in both scoring (16.4 ppg) and steals (41). He averaged 5.2 rebounds per game. He fifth nationally in three-point field goals made (101) and 13th nationally in three-point field goals made per game (3.0).
Lasley and Johnson both earned Heart of America Athletic Conference first-team al-conference honors this past season.
Clarke’s squad set a school record for wins in a season, going 24-9 overall, finished second in the Heart regular-season race and earned the program’s first NAIA national tournament berth.
