2020 D&AD Awards
Monash University has won a 2020 D&AD Graphite Pencil Award, announced on 16 June, in the category of “Media – Use of Integrated” for its 2019 A Future Without Change campaign.
D&AD Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate creative accolade, celebrating the best work in design and advertising from around the world. A D&AD Graphite Pencil is awarded to work executed with an original and inspiring idea.
In partnership with our creative agency VMLY&R, the campaign offered our audience a glimpse into what the future could look like if we don’t address the challenges of today. We put some of the world’s most pressing issues under the microscope, including global warming, modern slavery, energy supply, antibiotic resistance, and identity theft, in a blended-reality activation called A Future Without Change.
The activation depicted a planet in crisis, with a series of products that would be needed in the future, such as antidepressant-laden breakfast cereals, the last living piece of the Great Barrier Reef, and an enclosed pollution-free backyard. Visitors were able to taste, touch and experience the different scenarios. Each product was then linked to the change-making research Monash is undertaking today to ensure a better tomorrow. It showed that through research and education we can all make change.
Congratulations to all who have been awarded almost $9 million collectively in Medical Research Future Fund grants.
