Why should you apply?
Organising a local event under the umbrella of EU Industry Week 2021 is an excellent opportunity to bring visibility to your event and contribute to the reflection sparked by EU Industry Week. Local events will be labelled as ‘EU Industry Week events’ and will be promoted on the EU Industry Days website. They should take place between January and March 2021.
Thematic areas selected for 2021
The main thematic focus of your session should be on the implementation of the new industrial strategy in the post-COVID economic and social reality, with a specific focus on the challenges and needs of European industrial ecosystems related to one of the following specific objectives
- shaping Europe’s digital future
- making Europe’s industry climate-neutral by 2050
- EU competitiveness in the changing global competitive landscape
Format of the local events
All organisers are free to structure local events in their preferred format and duration. Examples include, but are not limited to: virtual workshops; seminars; open doors (virtual plant/factory tours); business presentations; training courses; job and education fairs; other events organised in partnership with other businesses, economic development groups and universities or training centres.
How will proposals be selected?
The European Commission will select proposals for local events to be presented under the umbrella of EU Industry Week 2021.
The selection of the local events will be done by an ad-hoc selection committee within the Commission and it will be based on relevance to the thematic area(s) outlined above.
Applications containing the following will be considered advantageous and are encouraged
- appropriate gender balance of speakers
- variety of stakeholders involved
The Commission select a range of events to give a dynamic mix of topics, expert and policy input, and sectoral perspectives.
The Commission has sole and absolute discretion to select the local events based on the above-mentioned criteria. No individual feedback will be provided to unsuccessful candidates, but they will be informed by email that their applications have not been retained.
How does the European Commission support selected local events?
The Commission will support the local events by offering the organisers
- Exposure on the EU Industry Days 2021 website
- Promotion of the event through the EU Industry Days communication channels
- Promotion of the local event results: organisers will submit short proceedings of their local event to the Commission. The Commission will reserve the right to edit the proceedings and use them in its future communication materials about European Industry Days
- The possibility to ensure a Commission speaker, if possible and appropriate
How to apply
Submit your EU Industry Week 2021: Local event proposal by 15 November 2020. The Commission will inform applicants of the results of the selection process by 6 December 2020.
Over the past years, the European Commission has organised EU Industry Days as an opportunity for stakeholders and citizens from all over Europe to establish a strong dialogue on the future of European industry. In 2019, the event gathered more than 1,500 participants from across the EU and across a wide range of stakeholders, from industrial leaders to civil society.
The fourth edition of EU Industry Days will focus on the accelerated twin green and digital transition, and the changing global competitive landscape in the post-COVID context. Against this background, it will provide important input for the update of the EU industrial strategy announced by European Commision President Ursula von der Leyen.
Taking into account the uncertainties related to COVID-measures, the event will take be organised virtually between 22-25 February 2021. The programme will be co-created by the European Commission and industrial stakeholders.
