BAGUIO CITY LGU SETS UP SANITATION TENTS IN HEALTH FACILITIES

(AGENPARL) – MANILA (PHILIPPINES), ven 27 marzo 2020

BAGUIO CITY, Mar.  27 (PIA) — Sanitation tents are set up at the different hospitals and health facilities in the city to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

On Monday, the City Building and Architecture Office (CBAO) set up the sanitation tent at the entrance of the Baguio City Health Services Offices (CHSO) where a demonstration on the    sanitation process was done.

CHSO Engineer Charles Carame explained that the sanitation tent is intended to disinfect persons especially the health workers, front liners and employees before entering the office or facility.

The tent is made from upcycled plastic pipes and plastic cover. The knapsack sprayer that sanitizes the person inside the tent is filled with sanitation solution. The solution for sanitation is a mixture of household bleach (Clorox) and water.

There is also a footbath, an innovation with the same chlorine disinfectant as there are findings that virus can also cling to surfaces like shoes.

According to Carame, the technology was developed by engineers and technical students of the University of the Philippines.

The design was provided to the city government and the CBAO fabricated the tents through the initiative of Mayor Benjie Magalong.

Aside from the CHSO, the other sanitation tents fabricated by the CBAO are installed at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center isolation and CT scan rooms, BGH triage area, Lindi Hotel containment area and St. Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart. ( JDP/RMC- PIA-CAR)
